Productivity apps and startups

Productivity tools are the easiest category to build in and the hardest to stand out in, because every one of them competes with a free global incumbent. The products that succeed here usually do it by being specific. A note-taking app that works properly offline matters when connectivity is intermittent. A scheduling tool that understands local business hours and holidays saves a daily annoyance. Task and project software priced for a five-person team in Lagos or Nairobi lands differently from software priced for a funded startup in San Francisco. This page collects note-taking and writing tools, task and project management, time tracking, automation and workflow builders, and focus utilities, built by people who were solving their own workflow problem first. If you are looking for tools to run your own work, or studying what a small team can ship alone, this is a good list to read. Every product has a verified founder you can reach.
