16 African Apps Built with Next.js: Schools, Jobs and Dev Tools

If you are choosing a web framework, or you just want to know what African teams actually ship with it, a list of real products tells you more than a feature table. This article collects 16 African apps built with Next.js, all listed on Builderswave, and shows what each one does and who it serves. You can browse the full, always current list on the Next.js tech page.
What Next.js is, in one paragraph
Next.js describes itself as "the React framework for the web". You write React components for the interface, and Next.js handles routing, rendering, data fetching, caching and build tooling around them. It is open source under the MIT licence and maintained by Vercel. Because it sits on top of React, many of the products below also appear in our earlier list of African apps built with React.
Next.js apps on Builderswave by the numbers
The Builderswave tech stack report for Q3 2026 (Wednesday 1 July to Wednesday 30 September) counted 174 products using stacks that pass the report's threshold. In that quarter:

16 African apps built with Next.js
1. Kivoo
Kivoo is "the simplest way to sell what you create online". It is built for creators, entrepreneurs and businesses in Africa who want a storefront for digital products without technical skills: ebooks, PDFs, courses, templates and guides. The flow is short: create your store, share your link, sell. Kivoo is starting with digital products and plans more ways to sell. Its stack pairs Next.js with Node.js, PostgreSQL, Redis and Tailwind CSS. Category: E-commerce.
2. Bloom
Bloom is a project management tool for small teams and agencies who find heavier tools too much and simpler boards too limited. There is a free plan with no card required, and Mobile Money (MoMo and Orange Money) payment support for the African market.
3. Sokial
Sokial brings preview deployments to mobile development: every pull request can become an installable app. You connect a GitHub repository, Sokial adds a reviewable GitHub Actions workflow, and builds run in your own environment with your own signing keys. Sokial handles distribution pages, install links, access control and installation tracking. Android distribution is available today. It runs Next.js on the front with Go and PostgreSQL behind it.

helpdigischool is an all-in-one school management platform for Cameroonian schools, from nursery to secondary. What these Next.js apps have in common
A few patterns stand out across the 16 products:
- Next.js is rarely alone. It shows up with Tailwind CSS in 8 of the 16 products, with TypeScript in 5 and with React listed separately in 5. Kivoo lists twelve stacks; Sharuco and InboxMail list two.
- The backend varies a lot. Next.js fronts Node.js (Kivoo, Bloom, Solux E-Learning, FindArtisan), Go (Sokial, InboxMail, SIMLY), Java (helpdigischool), Django (Scoreboards) and hosted backends such as Supabase (Portf.app, Amily) and Convex (ROLIII).
- Developer tools lead. Sokial, LY UI, InboxMail, Cover Studio, ROLIII, Sharuco and SIMLY all sit in Developer Tools, which matches the Q3 report, where Next.js was the top stack in that category.
- Local payments and connectivity shape features. Bloom and Amily support Mobile Money, and helpdigischool ships a fully offline version for schools with limited connectivity.
If you want to compare with the backend side of these stacks, our list of African apps built with Node.js covers several of the same teams' choices.
