The open-source map of Africa's indigenous languages.

NeraMap is an open-source interactive map visualizing the distribution of Cameroon's 250+ indigenous languages. Each language is documented with its linguistic family, vitality status (UNESCO scale), estimated speaker count, dialects, ISO code, and geographic coordinates — all structured for real use by educators, researchers, NGOs, and developers building African NLP tools. Built with Leaflet.js and MarkerCluster, the app features cluster zoom navigation, multi-theme map views, language search, family filtering, and detailed language profiles. The data layer is offline-first and contribution-ready, designed to grow into open infrastructure for African linguistic heritage — starting with Cameroon, with a broader vision for the continent. Open data. Open code. Community contributions welcome.
